Master of Europe VI: the campaign in Germany 1813

by Brian Cameron and Jim Wallman
GHS Hexacon, Haus des Gastes, Braunfels, Germany, 16th of May 2015
Battle of Leipzig 1813

Introduction

This game is about the battle for the mastery of Europe in 1813. It is in fact, two different games merged into one:

First there is a high level political game, involving heads of state and diplomats. Players in this part of the game will find themselves using their diplomatic and negotiating skills at the forefront, attempting to get the best political position for their country, both in the current situation and for the future. There may be peace ahead - but what shape will it take? And Napoleon?…what about Napoleon?

Secondly, linked to this, is a detailed campaigning game involving the manoeuvring of armies by generals and their staffs. The game for these players will be about manoever and the operational art - conducted on maps and covering many weeks of operations. Finding the enemy, divining his intentions and deploying to counter them is the key to successful gameplay as military team.

The issues of coalition warfare are to the forefront of the Allies' problems - the French, on the other hand have to struggle for survival against a numerically superior Allied army.

Player teams represent Heads of State and their staffs, Army Headquarters and staff, and various diplomatic and political teams.

Location and game fee

The game will be played on the 16th of May, 2015 at the XXIX. GHS Hexacon in das Haus des Gastes, Fürst-Ferdinand-Straße. 4a, Braunfels, Germany.

The Hexacon is the yearly gathering of the GHS (Gesellschaft für Historische Simulationen), which lasts a full week (next year from the 11th till 17th of May) during which the GHS members can participate in all kinds of boardgames and wargames (usually but not always) with a historic background.

If you do so, we will give you a preferential treatment in the casting for the game. However to avoid game organisation problems, we also expect you to participate if you register for the game. If you do not show up after registering or if you register after the 15th of January, we expect you to pay a normal game fee (halved for umpires).

If you are not a GHS member, you will pay our normal megagame fee (halved for umpires) but may enter the GHS Hexacon on Saturday and Sunday for free and on the other days of the week you may enter the GHS Hexacon at GHS membership costs (non GHS members normally pay the double amount).
